The Finest in "Christian Claymation"
The First Christmas
This colorful animated production is narrated by Christopher Plummer.
It tells the traditional story of the birth of Jesus, beginning with Mary and
Joseph's trip from Nazareth to Bethlehem. We witness their encounter
with the innkeeper who "has no room for them," but provides shelter
in a stable where Mary gives birth. We see the announcement to the
shepherds and follow the Magi who trek across the desert guided by the
mysterious star. Rebecca, the innkeeper's daughter, and Daniel, the
Shepherd boy, provide a strong supporting cast. Background music
includes traditional carols such as Silent Night, We Three Kings, Joy to
the World, O Come All Ye Faithful, and O Little Town of Bethlehem.
The Chimes
"A story of some bells that rang an old year out and a new year in."
Written By Charles Dickens.
This classic clay-animated program is the newest release from the
Billy Budd Collection. It's New Year's Eve. Toby Veck, a
poor messenger, huddles in a church doorway waiting for work. The
chimes in the tower ring out, but rather than finding comfort in their
beauty, he wonders why he was even born. His cherished daughter
Meg arrives with the news that she and her fiancé, a blacksmith,
will marry the next day. Later, Toby saves a homeless man and his
little niece from being jailed for trespassing. He shelters them in
his own home. Toby falls asleep in front of the fire and dreams that
his beloved Chimes summon him to their belfry. They take him to
task for losing heart and show him how grim life would be without
hope or love. He wakes up. It is New Year's Day and time to celebrate
his daughter's wedding with a renewed spirit and faith in the future.
A Christmas Gift
Will Vinton, whose "Closed Monday" won an oscar as the best animated short film, directed the Claymation version of the Peter, Paul & Mary ballad "Christmas Dinner." A beautiful heartwarming story!
So give your family a truly memorable gift this holiday season-watch these
films together.
*Winner of the 1999 Andrew Carnegie Medal - "The
Committee deeply appreciated the care and creativity that went into this
production and found it a delight to watch. Especially, we cited the
fluidity of the clay animation, choice of narrator, colloquial dialogue,
well-paced storytelling, and wonderful touches of humor." (American
Library Association)

Martin The Cobbler DVD ( All Ages )
$14.95
BB-D-MC
Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God.
Martin settles a dispute between a lady with a bag of apples and a ragamuffin who tries to "borrow" one of them. Also, in providing a warm
drink for a freezing street-cleaner and a shawl for a shivering mother with a small child, Martin discovers the Lord - just like the Gospels promise.
Martin, a lonely and sad cobbler, regains his lost faith and
discovers the presence of God can be found in unexpected
places. Based on Leo Tolstoy's short story, "WHERE
LOVE IS," this classic story of faith and friendship is
presented in Clay Animation, and narrated by Tolstoy's
daughter, Alexandria.
Martin is a cobbler who lives alone, is very sad, and has
given up on life. His wife and only son have died, and he
is angry at God as well as the neighboring townsfolk who
seem oblivious to his painful loneliness. Then a holy man
leaves a Bible that needs rebinding. Martin eventually picks
it up and reads the story of the rich, young merchant who
invited the Lord to be his guest but failed to show him the
ordinary signs of hospitality. As the story develops we see
how the Lord comes to Martin and how he recognizes the Lord
in the most surprising ways. A powerful program with a message
of hope. *First Prize winner of "Children's Films" - Ottawa
International Animation Film Festival.

The Velveteen Rabbit & The Twelve Months DVD ( All Ages )
$14.95
BB-D-VR
The Velveteen Rabbit
It teaches the mystery of becoming real.
It boils down to loving your neighbor as the means to
realize the spiritual potential in your soul. You grow as your love grows. There is no other way. It's the DNA imprinted on
the soul. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for justice.
This is the story of a little boy and his favorite toy, a rabbit.
The rabbit lived in the cupboard with the other toys. Only the skin
horse who had been there for many years was friendly to the rabbit.
He explained how the boy's father had loved him for many years
and that was how he became real. Because the little boy loved his
velveteen rabbit, after many hugs and kisses the rabbit becomes real
to the youngster.
*Teenagers respond to the idealism of this fairy tale. They can begin
to see how "becoming real" can take a long time.
